Actors Danny Glover (Predator 2, the Lethal Weapon series), Sam Elliott (The Hulk, We Were Soldiers) and Wanda Sykes (TV’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, Wanda at Large) have joined The King of Queens star Kevin James and Friends Courteney Cox in the voice cast for the upcoming Nick Movies CG feature, The Barnyard. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film, which is written, produced and directed by Steve Oedekerk, creator of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, writer of Bruce Almighty and director Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
Created by Oedekerk, The Barnyard takes a comical look at what really happens in a barnyard when the farmer is away. James stars as the voice of Otis, a carefree party animal cow who must find the courage and confidence to be the leader his father always knew he could be. In his third animated project since DreamWork’s Antz and The Prince of Egypt, Glover will lend voice to Miles, the older and wiser mule who tries to influence and guide Otis and the other critters on the farm. Sam Elliott will play Otis’ father, Ben, the respected patriarch of the barnyard who does his best to keep humans from discovering the secret life of animals. Sykes takes on the role of Bessy the cow, a doubtful and protective friend of Otis’ love interest, Daisy, played by Cox.
Oedekerk last joined forces with Nick Movies for the release of the Academy Award-nominated animated feature, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. The movie made more than $100 million at the box office and spawned a successful Nickelodeon television series.
The Barnyard is produced by Paul Marshal with Julia Pistor and Albie Hecht serving as exec. producers. Karyn Rachtman (Holes, Pulp Fiction, Romeo + Juliet) serves as exec music producer.
