DreamWorks Taps Scribes for Imaginary Enemies

DreamWorks Animation has hired Joe Syracuse and Lisa Addario to write a new film tentatively titled Imaginary Enemies, states The Hollywood Reporter.

The married writers, who also wrote the Sony animated feature Surf’s Up, are developing an idea that was first proposed at an internal studio retreat several years ago about children’s imaginary friends seek payback for being unfairly blamed for misdeeds through the years.

The trade reports that Shrek Forever After director Mike Mitchell is developing the project but has not yet signed on to direct.

The film is possibly being considered as a mix of live-action and animation, which would be the first DreamWorks Animation movie to venture into that territory.
