Disney Unveils Rapunzel Concept Art

While everyone is anticipating Disney’s return to 2D form this holiday season with The Princess and the Frog, there’s an equal amount of interest in the studio’s upcoming 3-D animated version of Rapunzel, slated for a Dec. 2010 release. Disney recently released some stunning concept art from the movie that should help whet the appetites of animation lovers everywhere:

Directed by Byron Howard (Bolt) and Nathan Greno, this is a full-fledged adaptation of the famous Brothers Grimm fairy tale about the witch’s adopted charge with the very long blonde hair who is kept hidden by her wicked guardian in a secluded tower.

This seemingly old-fashioned project is produced by Glen Keane, John Lasseter and Philip Lofaro, and features the voices of Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies), David Schwimmer (Friends), Carolyn Lawrence (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Grey DeLisle (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends).
