Daily Variety reports that Disney Feature Animation has hired writers Grant Calof and Greg Lee to script a big-screen adaptation of David Wiesner’s children’s book The Three Pigs.
Reports say the film will combine CG and traditional animation to update the classic tale of the Three Little Pigs and their run-in with a big, bad wolf. Production will be overseen by Disney Animation director of development Karen Rupert and creative exec Birk Rawlings.
Having successfully treaded new waters with the hits Finding Nemo and Brother Bear, Disney is returning to stand-by tales for its slate of upcoming projects. The studio is currently developing a CG adaptation of the Chicken Little story and is taking another trip to the world of fairy tales with the spoof Rapunzel: Unbraided, to be directed by Award-winning Disney animator Glen Keane.
Calof and Lee have also been tapped to rewrite the script for a Rob Schneider vehicle titled Blind Sided and have sold Class Clowns to Sony.
