Disney Called on Carpet for Aladdin Death

October 16, 2003 by Ryan Ball divider image

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health has fined the Disneyland Resort $18,530 for a fatal accident involving a worker.

In April, 36-year-old employee Christopher Bowman fell 42 feet while testing special effects for "Disney’s Aladdin, a Musical Spectacular." He was taken off life support nearly a month later.

The company was fined for not having proper fall protection and equipment on the maintenance runway, which was reportedly too narrow for Bowman to efficiently work on. He was also inadequately harnessed. Disney must pay the fine or file an appeal within 15 days.
