Pinewood Studios, U.K.-based production outfit Digi-Guys is ramping up for a busy production slate with the purchase of a 55-seat site-license of Bauhaus’ Mirage, a real-time 2D animation, paint and special effects software package. Digi-Guys will use Mirage for several upcoming film, game and broadcast works including a combination HD24p CG-animated feature film/videogame project.
Digi-Guys founder/managing director Andy Whitehurst comments, “Because of the wide scope of Mirage’s functionality, we decided to put it on every desktop in our facility to provide a seamless, real-time pipeline for creating animation and effects. Mirage’s real-time performance and streamlined workflow will certainly make it the ‘Go To’ application at Digi Guys, especially when time gets tight.”
Cartoon and 2D animators use Mirage as a unified paint and effects solution, allowing them to sidestep traditional scan/ink/paint workflows and move directly from digital pencil tests to editing within a single product. It is available for both Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, and retails for $895. Form more information, see www.bauhaussoftware.com.
