DiCaprio Chills Out as Jack Frost in The Guardians

Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to the voice cast of his first animated feature film, agreeing to voice the character Jack Frost in an upcoming DreamWorks Animation feature tentatively titled The Guardians.

DiCaprio is the first actor announced for the film, in which Jack Frost, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and the Sandman team up to defeat an evil spirit called Pitch. This is the actor’s first role in an animated feature.

The studio has released an image of Jack Frost, which bears more than a passing resemblance to the actor that will provide his voice.

The film is based on The Guardians of Childhood, a series of upcoming children’s books by William Joyce.

Peter Ramsey is directing the film, with Christina Steinberg and Nancy Bernstein producing.

The Guardians is due for release Nov. 2, 2012.
