Bedrock Studios, a new company founded by former ILM executive Ed Jones and Walden Media co-founder Cary Granat, has signed a multiyear deal with Andrew Adamson and Aron Warner of Shrek fame to create a new company called Strange Weather Films, reports Variety.
The deal, the first overall deal for Bedrock, calls for Adamson and Warner to develop projects that Adamson would direct or produce, with Warner and Bedrock serving as co-producers.
Adamson directed the first two films in DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek series and Warner produced the first three Shrek films and has an executive producer credit on the fourth. Adamson also directed the first two films in the Chronicles of Narnia series, which were produced by Walden Media.
Strange Weather will be based at Bedrock’s offices in Santa Monica and will have Jeffrey Fierson as head of development. Strange Weather will look for new directors to be mentored by Adamson and Warner, while Bedrock provides overhead and development funds, as well as early creative input, the trade reports.
Bedrock set in March the animated movie Turkeys as its first project. The movie will be directed Ash Brannon and feature the voices of Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson.
