Astro Boy Sets Opening Record in China

Imagi Studios’ Astro Boy has set a box office record for the biggest opening by a CG-animated movie in China.

The film earned 40 million renminbi ‘ the equivalent of US$5.9 million ‘ toppling the previous mark of RMB 30 million set earlier this year by Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

The film, which Imagi produced in both the United States and Hong Kong, opened on an estimated 1,100 screen across mainland China.
