Another celestial body has been added to the star-studded voice cast of the independent CG animated feature Delgo. Five-time Oscar nominee Anne Bancroft (The Graduate, The Miracle Worker) joins Jennifer Love Hewitt, Val Kilmer, Michael Clarke Duncan, Chris Kattan, Kelly Ripa, Eric Idle, Burt Reynolds, Malcolm McDowell and Lou Gossett, Jr. for the fantasy adventure film in the works at Atlanta-based Fathom Studios.
The celebrated actress is voicing the film’s villainess, Sedessa, an intelligent, vain, eccentric leader who is as ambitious as she is charming. While Bancroft is best known for her commanding screen presence, she is no stranger to animation. Toon fans may remember her as the voice of the Queen in DreamWorks’ 1998 CG feature Antz.
Fathom, which has been gradually releasing casting news to get their project regular exposure in the trades, has yet to announce who will be voicing the title character, Delgo.
Delgo, which has been in production in Atlanta since 2001, is the first theatrical production from Fathom. The film is set in a divided land where a troubled youth and some unlikely friends must save the world from itself. “Digital Dailies” from the movie can be viewed at www.delgo.com.
