Chuck has another mission for angels Drew Barymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, and part of it involves fighting off the walking dead at the box office this weekend as the action/comedy Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and the British sci-fi chiller 28 Days Later arrive in theaters today.

Featuring visual effects by Sony Pictures Imageworks and The Orphanage, Full Throttle has the undercover divas on the trail of a fallen angel, played by Demi Moore, whom they suspect is involved in a series of murders linked to the witness relocation program.

The tongue-in-cheek, over-the-top cheesecake fest has been receiving mostly positive reviews and is favored to take the No.1 spot from sophomore The Hulk. The first Charlie’s Angels movie opened to $40 million and went on to make more than $125 million domestically.

Opening in fairly limited release, 28 Days Later from director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, The Beach) employs the visual effects talents of Clear Ltd. in creating a modern-day London besieged by murderous zombies after animal rights activists release infected monkeys from a research facility. The film was released in the U.K. late last year and proved a critical and box office success.
