Alpha and Omega Re-Toons Theaters

Animation returns to the big screen this weekend with the release of the feature film Alpha and Omega.

Presented by Lionsgate and Crest Animation, Alpha and Omega will open in about 2,500 theaters this weekend in stereoscopic 3D and 2D versions. Telling a tale about a pair of wolves who are shipped across the country by park rangers and have to learn to get along with each other to get home. Directed by Anthony Bell and Ben Gluck, the screenplay is by Christopher Denk and Steve Moore from a story by Moore. Justin Long, Hayden Panettiere, Dennis Hopper, Danny Glover and Christina Ricci provide voices.

Alpha and Omega will face competition from a trio of major new releases. Universal is releasing the horror film Devil in more than 2,700 theaters. Warner Bros. has the most-recent film directed by Ben Affleck, Town, set for the same number of cinemas, while the Sony/Screen Gems comedy Easy A will be shown in 2,800 theaters.

Holdovers looking to hang on to their rankings include the video game adaptation Resident Evil: Afterlife, The American, Takers, Machete and the romantic comedy Going the Distance.
