A new film about the life and loves of children’s author Beatrix Potter will feature CG versions of her creations, including the most famous critter, Peter Rabbit. Actress Cate Blanchett (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) is in talks to star in the title role in Miss Potter, to be directed by Bruce Beresford (Tender Mercies), based on a script by Richard Maltby Jr.
The film centers on the life of the unmarried author, who overcame a rough childhood and the chauvinism of Victorian-era England, to become a best-selling author. According to Daily Variety, Blanchett decided to consider a part after the producers showed her a specially doctored scene using images from her movie Elizabeth, paired with a CG Peter Rabbit.
Produced by Michael Madavoy, David Kirschner and Corey Sienega, the film is expected to begin rolling in the fall in the U.K.
