12/19/02 NY Film Critics Go for Spirited Away

Both coasts agree as the New York Film Critics Circle follows the lead of its L.A. counterpart in voting Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away best animated movie.

Having also been honored by The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures, the Disney release of a Studio Ghibli production has now picked up three major U.S. awards, and is all but assured a spot in the race for the Oscar.

The New York Film Critics Circle awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in New York on Jan. 12.
