Wizard World, a pop-culture expo featuring some of the biggest names and companies in comic books, toys, anime, manga, video games, film and television, is expanding to the west coast with the addition of Wizard World Los Angeles in 2004. The show is a production of Wizard Conventions Inc.
The inaugural event will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center, March 19-21, 2004. Wizard World Los Angeles joins the previously announced slate of Wizard World shows, including Wizard World East, Wizard World Chicago and Wizard World Texas.
In a release, Wizard Conventions Inc. chairman and CEO Gareb Shamus notes that the explosion of the comics-to-films movement makes Los Angeles an ideal location for the expo.
Wizard World Chicago, happening August 8-10 2003, is expected to draw more than 40,000 people. It will be followed by Wizard World Texas, which will take place November 21-23, 2003. Wizard World East, now entering its third year, will follow the Los Angeles event in 2004. A date is yet to be announced.
Wizard World events are produced by Wizard Conventions Inc, a sister company of Wizard Entertainment Group, which publishes a number of magazines for the collectibles market, including InQuest Gamer, ToyFare, Anime Insider and the comics publication Wizard.
