Three Groups Set for WIA Battle of the Animation Bands

Women in Animation has announced the three finalists for its Battle of the Animation Bands contest and fund-raising party.

The event will see the bands Bonsai Tribe, Groove Bazaar and Go Go Global! face off Sept. 25 in the parking lot of 6 Point Harness Studios at 1627 N. Gower St. in Hollywood.

The winner of the battle will be decided by the audience, with each band offering a distinct sound: Bonsai Tribe is a self-described reggae and rock group with a ‘twist of strangeness’; Groove Bazaar is ”70s funk re-imagined,’ with soul, Latin, blues and jazz vibes; and Scot Byrd’s world fusion ensemble Go-Go Global! blends pop-rock and world beat.

This event also will showcase spins from DJ Krisz Klink.

Proceeds from the event will support the volunteer efforts of Women in Animation, including support of national student and professional chapters, international affiliates and the Phyllis Craig Scholarship programs.

Donation price for tickets are a suggested $15 for early-bird purchases and $20 on site. Tickets can be purchased online at www.groovetickets.com. Each ticket includes two drink coupons. No one under 21 will be admitted. A food truck will also be on site.
