If you missed this year’s SIGGRAPH in San Diego, Calif., and you live in the Portland, Oregon, area, you still have a chance to see the popular showcase of digital animation known as the Electronic Theater. Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH, Oregon and Southwest Washington’s local SIGGRAPH chapter will present a special screening of the 2003 program at the Laurelhurst Theater on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at 7:00′p.m.
Combining art with the industry’s most innovative computer graphics and special effects, the Electronic Theater is a favorite annual attraction for SIGGRAPH attendees and the place to spot the latest advancements and trends in filmmaking and commercials. This year, 26, juried works were selected from a more than 600 submissions.
This screening and other SIGGRAPH meetings are free to members. Non-members pay a $5.00 fee at the door and memberships can be purchased at the door for $25.00 ($18.00 for students). Because alcohol will be served, attendance will be limited to those who are at least 21 years old.
The Laurelhurst Theatre & Pub is located at 2735 E. Burnside Street, Portland, Ore. Visit the Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH Web site at http://maps.cascadesiggraph.org/laurelhurst for maps and other details.
