The new fall season at REDCAT (the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater in Los Angeles) will offer an eclectic mix of cutting-edge animated projects from around the world.
Among the animated fare offered at the venue are Chinese artist and filmmaker Sun Xun’s multi-layered meditations on a century of modernity and revolution (Oct. 19); followed by the World Premiere of a multimedia collaboration and other works by award-winning animator Christine Panushka and performance artist Alberto Araiza (Oct. 26). In the concluding program of animation co-presented with the Center for Visual Music, Dutch filmmaker Joost Rekveld’s enthralling study of light, # 37, anchors a selection of abstract animated shorts (Nov. 3).
REDCAT is located at 631 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012 (at the corner of 2nd and Hope Streets inside the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex). Tickets are $9 for the general public, $7 for students with valid ID. Tickets may be purchased by calling 213.237.2800 or at www.redcat.org.
