L.A. area art gallery/studio Nucleus will be hosting eight of the artists behind LAIKA’s ParaNorman feature (out in theaters Friday, August 17!) to give fans and animation lovers a glimpse behind the scenes of the long-awaited stop-motion flick. The processes of character design, storyboards, visual development and armature design will be discussed with actual armatures and puppets from the production on display.

The featured artists are Chris Turnham (visual development), Deanna Marsigliese (character design), Heidi Smith (character design), Jeremy Spake (model maker/animator), Kevin Dart (visual development), Pete Oswald (character design/visual development) and Vera Brosgol (storyboards). The talented crewmembers will begin with a panel presentation at noon, followed by a half-hour Q&A (bring your questions!) and signings of the new book The Art and Making of ParaNorman by Jed Alger, available in the Nucleus shop.

…Best of all, admission is FREE! Visit gallerynucleus.com or call 626-458-7482 for location, hours and more info.
