French Animation Celebration at L.A.’s Hammer

The Los Angeles Film & TV Office and the French Embassy are presenting a run of superb French animated features at the Hammer Museum’s Billy Wilder Theater this month.  “Les Illusionistes: A Celebration of French Animation,” hosted by the UCLA Film & TV Archive at the Wilder, kicks off Friday December 3 with a Sylvain Chomet double feature (7:30 p.m.) of Oscar contender The Illusionist and The Triplets of Belleville.

December 3, 7:30 p.m. – The Illusionist, The Triplets of Belleville

December 4, 7:30 p.m. – Mia et le Migou, Raining Cats and Dogs (Jacques-Rémy Girerd)

December 5, 11:00 a.m. – Azur and Asmar (Michel Ocelot)

December 5, 7:00 p.m. – Eleonore’s Secret (Kerity) (Dominique Monfrey), Kirikou and the Wild Beasts (Michel Ocelot, Bénédicte Galup)

December 11, 7:30 p.m. – The Turning Table (Paul Grimault, Jacques Demy)

December 13, 7:30 p.m. – Fantastic Planet (René Laloux), Chronopolis (Piotr Kamler)
