Finalists Set for Cartoon d’Or Prize

The European Association of Animation Film has named five finalists for the 2009 Cartoon d’Or prize for the best European animated short film.

Chosen from a field of 29 candidates ‘ all of them winners of awards at one of 11 partner festivals ‘ the winner will be announced Sept. 24 at Cartoon Forum in Stavangar, Norway.

Aston’s Stones, directed by Uzi and Lotta Geffenblad, Sweden

Party Animals, Merwan Chabane, France

Madagascar, carnet de voyage, Bastien Dubois, France

Please Say Something, David O’Reilly, Germany-Ireland

Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death, Nick Park, United Kingdom

The finalists will get the chance to present their film at Cartoon Forum, which is set for Sept. 22-25. The winner will be decided by a jury made of up directors Serge Elissalde, Tomm Moore and Kari Juusonen and will receive funding for his or her next animation project.
