Escape Studios will present the Pixar RenderMan and Massive European Tour in Germany and London and Newcastle in the U.K. Designed to demystify the working processes between Massive and Pixar’s RenderMan, the tour will pull into Stuttgart for FMX on May 4 before rolling on to Prince Charles Cinema in London on May 8 and University of Teeside, Middlesbrough in Newcastle on May 9.
Special guest speakers will include Pixar Animation Studios’ Sanjay Bakshi, groom lead on the upcoming Disney/Pixar film Ratatouille. Bakshi will be on hand to discuss his participation in the film, which opens domestically this June.
Heading up Massive’s technical talk will be Artaya Boonsoong, Massive’s industry manager for visual effects and animation. A citizen of Thailand, Boonsoong has racked up credits as an animator and lead technical director on such films as Crash, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, The Human Stain, Charlie’s Angels II, Underworld:Evolution and Ray.
Escape Studio’s creative technical director, Scott Eaton, will present on RenderMan. Eaton has been working in computer graphics for ten years, dividing his time between R&D, visualization and production, and counts among his clients The Mill, Sony Computer Entertainment, Microsoft Games Studios and Pixar. He regularly gives lectures on the digital arts and has spoken at the Tate Modern Museum, the Annecy Animation Festival and SIGGRAPH.
