Effects Reign At SIGGRAPH Meeting

Effects work on the Touchstone Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment dragon pic Reign of Fire will be the subject of discussion at the L.A. Chapter SIGGRAPH meeting on Sept. 10 at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood.

Walt Disney Feature Animation and The Secret Lab will host the meeting, sponsored by Houdini developer Side Effects Software and co-sponsored by HP.

An overview of Reign of Fire‘s effects, created with Houdini, was a highlight of the recent Houdini Annual Meeting held at SIGGRAPH 2002 in San Antonio, Texas. The presentation was made by Technical Supervisor Hank Driskill, who will be among the artist-presenters on Sept. 10.

Slated panelists include: Visual Effects Supervisor Richard Hoover, Co-Visual Effects Supervisor Dan DeLeeuw, Digital Effects Supervisor John Murrah, CG Supervisor Adolph Lusinsky, Creature Supervisor Rob Dressel, Technical Supervisor Hank Driskill, Supervising FX Animator Chuyan Huang and FX animators Patrick Dalton and Rob Rosenblum.
