Fans of the most-critically-acclaimed sports anime ever should block out Saturday, October 13 on their calendars, as Crunchyroll and Fathom Events have teamed up to present a 12-episode marathon of Yuri!!! on ICE in 95 select U.S. cinemas. Synopsis: After suffering a humiliating loss at the Grand Prix Final, Japanese skater Yuri Katsuki is ready to hang up his skates forever. Taking time off the ice, he re-evaluates his passion, only to go home without medals, confidence, or reason to return to the rink. That is until his idol, Victor Nikiforov, appears with a surprising offer–he wants to coach Yuri! This news doesn’t sit well with others in the skating world, and Yuri must prove that he’s worthy of Victor’s attention–by facing Russia’s rising star, Yuri Plisetsky. With new routines and Victor’s undying support, Yuri will discover more about himself and his feelings within. With Victor close by his side, Yuri will find the true meaning of victory!

Produced by MAPPA, Yuri!!! on ICE is directed by Sayo Yamamoto and written by Mitsurō Kubo. Figure skating choreographer, coach, and former competitive ice dancer Kenji Miyamoto choreographed the realistic skating sequences.

In addition to winning numerous awards and fan polls, the lauded series also attracted praise from professional figure skaters, with some olympians skating to music from the show at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

“Japanese animated features continue to be immensely popular in the U.S.,” Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt said. “This ‘binge watching’ session of the Yuri series is sure to be another favorite. We’re proud to partner with Crunchyroll to bring it to American movie theaters.”

Crunchyroll’s Head of Events and Manga, Dallas Middaugh, commented, “Working with Fathom Events to bring Yuri!!! on ICE to theaters is a great opportunity to bring current fans and new fans together to enjoy this continuously popular series. Our partnership with Fathom Events allows us to continue to service our fans on the big screen!”
