The Broadcast Film Critics Association today announced nominees for the 13th annual Critic’ Choice Awards for the top achievements in film for 2007. Landing spots in the Animated Feature category are DreamWorks Animation’s Bee Movie, Paramount/Shangri-La Ent.’s Beowulf, Sony Pictures Classics’ Persepolis, Disney/Pixar’s Ratatouille and 20th Century Fox’s The Simpsons Movie.
Disney’s partially animated Enchanted made its way into a couple of heats as well. In the Family Film category, it will be competing with New Line’s The Golden Compass and Hairspray, and Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and August Rush. In addition, the song ‘That’s How You Know,’ as performed by Amy Adams, is up for Best Song.
Among the live-action offerings, Paramount Vantage’s Into the Wild leads the pack with seven nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Emile Hirsch, and Best Writer and Best Director nods for Sean Penn. Fox Searchlight’s coming-of-age comedy Juno also made out well with six noms, including Best Picture, Best Comedy Movie, Best Actress for Ellen Page and Best Writer for Diablo Cody.
The 13th annual Critics Choice Awards will be held Jan. 7 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. The ceremony will be broadcast live on VH1. For a full list of nominees, go to www.bfca.org.
