Artists Offer Extreme Disney Makeovers
If you like to see modern takes on favorite Disney classics and you live in Los Angeles, then you have to visit a special show at Gallery 1988 running February 17-March 10. Remixing the Magic features ‘reinterpretations’ of classic Disney features and shorts by 50 contemporary artists and animators. An opening reception is scheduled this Friday (February 17) from 7 to 10 p.m.
Co-curated by animation writer Jon Gibson (Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, Maya & Miguel), the eclectic collection features works by many animation industry heavyweights including Tim Biskup, Carlos Ramos (The X’s), Dave Wasson (Time Squad), Alex Kirwan (art director on My Life as a Teenage Robot), Gabe Swarr, Sandra Equihua, Katie Rice, Tony Mora and Amanda Visell.
