Animation Scribe Mark Evanier Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

The Animation Writers Caucus of the Writers Guild of America, west (WGAw) presents its sixth annual Animation Writing Award to Mark Evanier at its annual reception today. Says WGAw’s president, Victoria Riskin, "His contributions as a writer and advocate for the medium are immeasurable." Adds Caucus chair Craig Miller, "When you add to his professional accomplishments all the work he has done on behalf of writers, individually and collectively, he stands head and shoulders above most others in the field."

Nominated for three Emmys, Evanier has lent his talents to Dungeons and Dragons, Scooby-Doo, Thundarr the Barbarian, Plastic Man, Richie Rich, and The Flintstones. He has also written for such live-action shows as Welcome Back Kotter, The Love Boat and Cheers. He is currently working on an untitled pilot for the Cartoon Network.
