Adult Swim Goes on Tour

Cartoon Network’s late-night Adult Swim block today announced its first two nationwide concert tours. Inspired in part by the block’s offering of animated hits, the live music campaign will include a 12-campus hip-hop program featuring Ghostface Killah and Witchdoctor to commence on Oct, 1 at the State University of New York in Albany. A 12-campus heavy metal tour will follow on October 29 with headliner And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead and opening act Dethklok from the animated series Metalocalypse.

Metalocalypse is the brainchild of creators Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha. For the Adult Swim tour, Small, who is the lead vocalist, will bring the animated characters to life with a real, live band. Dethklok’s first album, Metalocalypse: Dethklok The Dethalbum, will be released by Adult Swim’s Williams Street record label on September 25. Williams Street will also release Witchdoctor’s new album, Diary of an American Witchdoctor, on October 23.

All shows are free and open to the public. Tickets can be obtained online at www.adultswimpresents.com, where you’ll also find a list of tour dates. The Hip-hop schedule is set but the heavy metal lineup will be released at a later date.
