Eight classic animated short films produced by the famous UPA studios will screen Dec. 14 in New York as part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Monday Night with Oscar series.
Among the films to be shown, all of them newly struck 35mm prints, are Oscar winners Gerald McBoing-Boing (1950) and Mister Magoo’s Puddle Jumper (1956).
Animation historian and writer John Canemaker selected the lineup of films and will be the host of the event.
Tickets for ‘An Animated Academy Salute to UPA’ are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid ID. Tickets may be purchased online at www.oscars.org, by mail or at the box office prior to the event, subject to availability. All seating is unreserved.
