If the animated feature Rio got animation fans thinking about a trip to Brazil, then the lineup for the third annual Diversity in Animation festival may be the perfect reason to go.

The festival features a line up full of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and transgender animated films and will be held May 6-13 in Rio de Janerio at the Cine Cultural Justica Federal. The three best animation festival, chosen by the Popular Jury, Technical Jury and Festival Jury will be awarded and shown on the last day of the festival in a special program

This year’s competition features 22 entries in the short film competition, divided into two programs, and features 18 premieres. Other programs include a retrospective of the best films and winners from the 2010 festival and a special devoted to J.J. Sedelmaier that includes 11 episodes of The Ambiguously Gay Duo series that ran on Saturday Night Live.
