Paramount Pictures and Marvel Ent. today teased comic-book fans with news of a new Iron Man spot that will air on the FOX network during the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 3. The expensive ad promises to offer new footage from the highly anticipated movie starring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, a military industrialist who becomes an iron-clad superhero. Paramount will release the film in theaters on May 2.
Directed by Jon Favreau (Zathrua, Elf), Iron Man also stars Gwyneth Paltrow as Stark’s personal assistant, Virginia “Pepper” Potts, and Terrence Howard as Jim “Rhodey” Rhodes, Stark’s best friend and a decorated military pilot. Jeff Bridges is also on board as a close business associate of Stark’s, a confidant and longtime employee at defense contractor Stark Industries. Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is serving as the principle visual effects house on the move.
Marvel.com today began teasing the new spot, which will debut at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sunday during the face-off between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. The ad will then be available the following day on Apple.com, Marvel.com and the official Iron Man website at IronManMovie.com.
