nWave Takes 3D Trip Around the World

Belgian animation studio nWave Pictures will follow up its first narrative CG-animated family film, Fly Me to the Moon, with a stereoscopic 3D adventure titled Around the World in 50 Years—3D. According to Daily Variety, the film will be directed by Ben Stassen, who helmed Fly Me to the Moon, and written by Fly Me scripter Domonic Paris of Illuminata Picutres. Stassen Paris will also serve as producers, along with nWave's Caroline Van Iseghem and Paris’ Illuminata partners, Gina Gallo and Mimi Maynard.

Around the World in 50 Years—3D follow a sea turtle 1959 as he travels a world being changed by global warming. The voice cast will include Anthony Anderson, Ed Begley Jr., Pat Carroll, Tim Curry, Kathy Griffin, Melanie Griffith, Stacy Keach and Jenny McCarthy.

The film is being self-financed by nWave, which hopes to have production wrapped sometime next year. In the meantime, the studio is ramping up for the release of Fly Me to the Moon, which Summit will release theaters equipped for digital 3-D projection on Aug. 8.
