Cartoon Network and Smashing Ideas have joined forces to develop and distribute mobile games, animated screensavers and wallpapers. Smashing Ideas will distribute the content across North America through carriers supporting Flash Lite content. The first fruit of the partnership will be a games channel consisting of two games on Smashing Idea’s BREW application, “Smashing Games.”
“Our games channel extends the type of immersive gaming experience our fans expect from Cartoon Network onto the mobile platform and serves as a launching pad for groundbreaking original titles created in Flash Lite,” comments Ross Cox, senior director of advanced platforms for Cartoon Network New Media.
The two games available at launch will be an aerial daredevil adventure titled Codename: Kids Next Door—Flight of the Hamsters, and a frantic puzzler dubbed Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends—Mac’s Match-Up. Also in development is a Ben 10 game and other titles based on popular Cartoon Network properties.
Smashing Ideas is one of the U.S.’s largest independent developers of Adobe Flash-based digital media. With offices in Seattle, Portland and in the U.K., the company has created more than 350 online games for multiple platforms including PC, IPTV and Mobile.
