Spain’s Icon Animation has signed a multi-territory deal with leading international collectable stickers and trading card company Panini for its popular, girl-skewed animated series Lola & Virginia. Panini will launch a series of products, including sticker books, story albums, puzzles and coloring books, across Spain, Portugal, Italy and Brazil. The roll out will kick off in Italy, where the series airs on the Disney Channel.

Lola & Virginia is a co-production of Icon Animation, Millimages, France 3, TV Catalunya and ETB, and is based on the original concept created by Myriam Ballesteros, who founded Icon Animation with Sergi Reitg. The series has sold worldwide and is supported by a licensing and merchandising strategy that includes a deal with Comercial Nim for school items, games, T-shirts and other products for Spain and Portugal. In addition, Grupo Edebe has launched ten manga-style comic books in Spain and mobile content producer Alvento is distributing ring tones, games, images, screen savers and a WAP portal for the popular brand.

Icon Animation is also producing online games for the Lola & Virginia website (www.lolavirginia.com), which is available in Spanish, English and Catalan, and is also currently being localized in Italian and Portuguese.

Aimed at kids 6-12, Lola & Virginia premiered on Nickelodeon in the U.S. last June and on Nickelodeon Latin America last July. It is set to launch on France 3 and RTVE this year, and has also been picked up by Nickelodeon in France and Asia, Disney Channel in Spain and in Italy, Canal Panda in Portugal, The Children Channel in Israel and RCTV in Venezuela, among others. Icon Animation holds all distribution rights worldwide except for France, French-speaking Switzerland, Benelux, the UK, Ireland, Iceland, Australia and New Zealand, which are held by Millimages.
