The CBS primetime series Creature Comforts America from Aardman Animations is set for release on DVD this fall and will offer all seven half-hour, clay-animated episodes, plus additional animated interviews not seen on television. The two-disc set will be released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on Oct. 9.
In the show, the words of ordinary people interviewed on the street are put in the mouths of clay critters to comical effect. For example, an older married couple going through a laundry list of physical ailments are portrayed by two lovebirds, and two men inhaling the bouquet of a fine wine become two dogs sniffing another dog. The concept originated with filmmaker Nick Park’s Academy Award-winning 1991 short film, Creature Comforts, which eventually became a hit television series in the U.K.
In addition to exclusive bonus animal interviews, the Creature Comforts America DVD will include deleted scenes, on-air promos and a feature referred to as ”Creature Comforts Character Comps.” Fans of the show will be able to own it for the list price of $29.95.
