The U.S. version of Aardman’s acclaimed, clay-animated Creature Comforts series debuts on CBS Monday, June 4 at 8 p.m., and we have some exclusive clips from the new show. These four snippets offer a taste of what you can expect when people on this side of the pond get exposed for the animals they really are. Upcoming episodes will feature hundreds of ordinary Americans from across the U.S. talking about such topics as doctor visits, animal magnetism and the truth about keeping secrets.
Based on Nick Park’s Oscar-winning 1989 short of the same name, the half-hour show takes interviews of real people and puts their words in the mouths stop-motion critters of all types. The British TV series premiered in 2003 and quickly became a hit for U.K.’s ITV1 network on Sunday nights. It was also awarded the Rose d'Or for Best Comedy and Cristal Award for Best TV Production at the Annecy Animation Festival, as well as the Audience Award at the New York International Children's Film Festival.
The Americanized series is exec produced by Kit Boss, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Gotham Group) and Aardman’s Nick Park, David Sproxton, Peter Lord and Miles Bullough. Richard Goleszowski, director of the U.K. show, is also the supervising director of the CBS version.
On the big screen, Bristol-based Aardman Animations has given us Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Flushed Away, working with DreamWorks Animation. That relationship has since dissolved and the animation studio has entered a new partnership with Sony Animation. For more information, visit www.aardman.com.
