Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment has had its creative home at Universal for some time now. With yesterday’s announcement that the duo will soon remake the 1970 sci fi saga Colossus: The Forbin Project, that domestic arrangement is going to continue for the foreseeable future.
According to Daily Variety, scribe Jason Rothenberg has been set to write the screenplay. The pics working title, not too surprisingly is Colossus. Based on a book by D.F. Jones, the 1970’s film had at its center an idea familiar to Terminator fans—that of a government-built computer that becomes sentient and then takes control.
The Imagine project will use the original’s premise and incorporate material from two subsequent Jones-penned Colossus novels. Howard is next set to direct Frost/Nixon followed by the Akiva Goldsman-scripted Da Vinci Code sequel.

Hollywood needs to open its doors and let new talent with fresh new ideas in to its ranks instead, of regurgitating the same tired movies over and over again.
