Teletoon Doubles Scholarship Offerings

At MIP this week, Canada’s Teletoon announced it was more than doubling the dollar amount for next year’s crop. Total prize money now stands at $70,000 per annum. The funds will be divided between nine students. As well as supporting the work of new animators, Teletoon is also rewarding cartoon fans. The new Voter’s Choice Award will allow would be cartoon critics to have their say and possibly win $500. Applications for the Scholarship are now being accepted until June 15. Since 1997, Teletoon has awarded more than $260,000 in scholarships to 96 students across Canada. Many past winners have gone on to forge successful animation careers and have worked with award-winning studios such as 9 Story Entertainment, Aardman Animations, Nelvana, Pixar Animation Studios, and Studio B Productions.
