Chorion has awarded to preschool toymaker Fisher-Price the master toy license to its new animated series The Octonauts.

The deal, announced just prior to the opening of the Toy Fair trade show, covers a number of categories including plush, musical talking toys, vehicles, playsets, accessories, bath and role play toys and electronic learning aids.

The animated series, aimed at the 3 to 5 age range, follows a group of underwater adventure heroes and is set to launch this year. CBeebies in the United Kingdom, TF1 in France and ABC Australia have all pre-bought the series.

The toys are set to follow the debut of the show, hitting shelves in 2011.

“From the first time Fisher-Price saw The Octonauts, they had a clear vision for the toy line,” says Waheed Alli, chairman of Chorion. “We are delighted to once again be partnering with a world-class category leader who has brilliant plans for our newest property.”
