PlayStation 3 Further Delayed

Though gamers in North America will get their PlayStation 3 consoles in time for the holidays, the European market will have to wait until next year to try out the next-gen video game machine. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has announced that it has pushed back the European release to March of 2007. The company assured gamers and investors that the delay would not affect the North American rollout, which is still on track for Nov. 17.

Sony blames the revised release schedule on a delay in Sony Group’s mass production of the blue laser diode, which is key to the PlayStaton 3’s Blu-ray DVD feature. Despite the snag, the company says it still plans to ship 6 million PS3 units worldwide within the fiscal year ending 2007.

The PS3 unit will be available in "clear black" and will come equipped with Giga-bit Ethernet, a pre-Installed hard drive disc and the combination of Cell and RSX(TM) processors. In addition to playing next-gen titles, the machine will be compatible with a vast catalog of PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games. The units will retail for the U.S. price of $499 (20GB) and $599 (60GB).

  It seems that we (also Sony) are nervous about the ordeal but hey it's only a few more months and if we kep living a day at a time the PS3 will here in no time. It does kindof, well, suck but these things happen when you are making something brand new. We all know that when she comes out we are all going to be cheering and are going to be very amazed that the great piece of technologies all cramed into the case worked out.
