German entity EM.TV & Merchandising AG has signed a three-year home entertainment license agreement with Universal Family Ent. (UFE) that will see the latter distributing properties from the EM.TV and Junior.TV libraries on DVD, VHS and CD. The contract volume is reported to be in the lower single-digit million Euro ballpark.
UFE's initial product line resulting from the agreement is a slate of 18 DVDs of the popular Junior.TV animated series Vicky the Viking, The Little Rascals, Lassie, Sinbad the Sailor and Nils Holgersson. Launched in Germany and Austria, the titles each contain four episodes, except for Little Rascals, which has six. UFE is distributing them under the umbrella brand TV-Kult. While the DVDs are currently avialable in retail outlets, UFE is planning a big launch event at the Popkomm 2003 trade fair in Cologne on Aug. 14.
Sequels of the aforementioned titles, along with new animated and live-action films, will make up a second DVD product line slated to hit stores this September.
